Isle of Avalon rind washed cheese is a superb semi-soft cheese washed in wine to give it a melting texture and a pungent fruity taste.
Imported as young Port Salut, originally by the late master affineur James Aldridge, now by his team lead by his wife Pat.
The cheeses are washed in wine as they mature, resulting in the sticky stinky loveliness on the rind. Golden orange in colour, the interior paste is smooth as silk.
